  • The ceremony!

Catholic Wedding Ceremony in Greece follows the procedure of a typical one. The ceremony requires one or more than one best men and bridesmaids. The groom, accompanied by his best men and the priest, awaits for the bride. The bridesmaids walk down the wedding aisle right before the bride. Then, the beautiful bride, escorted by her father or one loved relative or friend, reaches the altar. The ceremony begins. The priest reads Holy Bible passages with references about an eternal union and a new start. After this, the couple exchanges vows of true love and devotion. Then the priest asks if the couple accepts each others vows and the answer, of course, is “I do”. Thereafter the priest blesses the rings and the couple exchanges them. The priest also blesses the couple with “The sign of peace” and the “Holy Communion” as a statement of divine acceptance. All the holy passages read throughout the wedding and the parts of the ceremony are performed according to the typical Catholic Wedding Ceremony. However, in cooperation with the priest of each bishop you may add or remove the details you want. You will not have complete freedom to change the ceremony of course, as most of the prayers are specific.
